Gear

We specialize in dive education. We are not a dive shop, so we will not be giving you a "hard sell" to get you to buy gear. That being said, scuba diving is a gear-intensive sport. We would be happy to give you recommendations, and even go with you to dive shops to help you with purchases.

We can provide all of the equipment you need for your open water certification. We do suggest that you purchase your own mask, fins, snorkel, and weight belt. We can supply all of these items if you would like to get your feet wet (sorry, couldn't resist!) before you purchase.

Basic scuba gear

  • Tank (filled with air, not oxygen).
  • Buoyancy compensation device (usually called a BC or BCD).
  • Mask (we do not call them goggles, and we do not wear them on top of our heads).
  • Fins (not flippers).
  • Regulator (first and second stage).
  • Octopus (a spare second stage regulator).
  • Snorkel.
  • Whistle.
  • Console, which includes a submersible pressure gauge, a depth gauge, and usually a compass).
  • Weight system (may be integrated into your BC, or may be carried on a belt, or both).
  • Wetsuit (jacket, pants, hood, gloves, boots).
